The Challenge

The Challenge
Hi, My Name, Is Bryan at the age of 19, I am sorry for the picture but this is from my Prison ID card. I was arrested and later convicted of Attempted Voluntary Manslaughter and I am serving 20 years in a California State Prison. I had no hope. My background was like most young men growing up without a father. I began using drugs at a very early age I joined a gang. I guess I was trying to drown out the pain that I had experienced most of my life. However, and 2016 on Easter Sunday morning on a level 4 prison I gave my life to Christ because I realize I couldn’t live any longer without Him. I went back to my cell and I told my cellmate that I was now a Christian. He stated that he did not agree with that and punched me in the eye. I was bleeding so I asked him to move so I could wash the blood off of my face. He later asked me why didn’t I fight him and I told him that Jesus stated in His word to love our enemies. He was astonished at my commitment to Christ. However, it was kind of embarrassing because when I went to the yard everyone saw my black eye.
I’m attending on Sunday mornings with about 100 other inmates listening to the teachings of Dr. Timothy Emerick and his wife Claudia. On March 20th of this year, I was attending one of the services given by Dr. Emerick who was preaching and he gave us a challenge. He said to be a witness for Christ. He said walk up to the biggest baddest guy on the yard and tell him that you’re a Christian and that you would like to pray for him and for his loved ones in the name of Jesus.
I walked out of the church service with this challenge that Dr. Emerick gave to each man attending. Later that night as I was standing in line to use the microwave and a fellow prisoner who I called Mr. Meanie stood behind me. He has always been foul mouth, very rude and would fight a lot. So bad was his character he almost started a race riot in the prison. I got up the courage and told him I was a Christian and if he needed prayer. He made a sarcastic remark stating that he was a Christian also. I gave him a fist bump and this was my first opportunity to witness for Jesus. If I can do it with Mr. Meanie you can do it also!!!

Healed by the Power of God!

This is my testimony. I am James King who is an inmate in a California State Prison. I was diagnosed in 2015 with Neuro Endocrine Carcinoma which is an aggressive form of pancreas cancer. I went into surgery to have the cancer removed. I was clear of cancer for 15 months when it returned and metastasized in his liver. James states that he went through three different Chemo drugs when another inmate who is a Christian asked him, when are you going to let God heal you?
After this I went to Dr. Emerick and his wife Claudia who are volunteer Chaplin’s in the prison where I am incarcerated. Dr. Emerick gave me a couple of books on healing by Kenneth E. Hagin called “Healing Belongs to Us”, and “Right and Wrong Thinking”. He told me to read these books and we would pray in a couple of weeks. Two weeks later after Dr. Emerick preached the Sunday sermon in the prison he and his wife Claudia prayed over me and I received my healing according to the scriptures of 1 Peter 2:24 which says “by the stripes of our Lord Jesus Christ we were healed.
I returned to the doctor and I was told by the doctor that all of my cancerous tumors were gone. The doctor was amazed because he told me previously that I would die in a few more months. No more tumors in my body. I am cancer free. I stand on the Word of God and rejoice in my healing!

The Story of Juan Ramirez

I want to tell you a story about a young man that I met 29 years ago. His name is Juan Ramirez. I met Juan in Mexicali, Mexico in 1973. Juan was the boyfriend of a young girl who was a member of the church I pastored. She stated he had a very hard life. He was abandoned by his father when he was 8 years old. He stated that he missed his father and blamed God for his father leaving.
I went to visit him in Mexico at the urging of his girlfriend because she stated that he was a drug addict and heavily involved in gangs. She stated at the age of 13 he joined the gang and began to smoke cigarettes, marijuana, snort cocaine and also do Crystal meth.
When I met Juan, he was a very hard young man that didn’t want to hear anything about God. I told him that God loves him very much and this is not the life that he should have. He wasn’t disrespectful but he did not want to hear what I had to say. I told him that I would continue to pray for him and God was not going to let him go. Sometime later trying to pass drugs and entering in the United States illegally Juan was arrested and sent to jail for approximately a year and a half in Calexico, Mexico. When I learned about his detention I sent him a letter and in the letter I once again told him how the Lord God loved him. He stated one thing that really stuck out in the letter was the scripture I quoted from the Gospel of Luke 11:13 which said if we’re being evil knowing how to give good gifts to our children how much more has a heavenly Father wants to give us good gifts.
When he was released from prison he was back-and-forth still involved in drugs and the gang. At some point in time the Holy Spirit using the Word of God and my persistence brought Juan to a point where he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ. He is now a minister with Victory Outreach and Mexicali, Mexico.
Juan stated about three weeks ago he began thinking about me and he still had the letter. He decided to Google my name and we made contact With one another. He stated that my encouragement and giving him the love of Christ and as well as the letter that I wrote 29 years ago is what helped him come to the saving knowledge of Jesus. I want to let you know that the Word of God never returns void. It does not matter if you don’t see instant success when preaching the word. This is a lesson in loving someone into the kingdom of God and seeing the Holy Spirit use His word to change their lives.
The picture to your left is Juan who is standing in the first row. He is the young man in the middle throwing gang signs. The second picture is now Juan who leads others to Jesus as a minister in Victory Outreach in Mexicali, Mexico.

New Prison Ministries

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We have some great news! The Lord has opened up two more prisons to us to reach young men who are desperately in need of repentance and having an abundant life in Jesus. My wife and I will be serving as volunteer chaplains to about 200 inmates overall in both facilities. We will be conducting general worship services as well as a weekly Bible study in both Spanish and English. We are asking everyone to pray of how you might be able to partner with us in supplying material to these men. We have to make copies of our Bible Studies, purchase literature and Bibles. Whatever you can send will be a blessing.
You can donate using Zelle through Bank of America listing our email address of harvestevangelisticassociation@aol.com or you can use PayPal. We want to thank you in advance for your prayers and support during this very crucial time in the Lord opening these doors for us.
In the Masters Service,

Reference Letter concerning Dr. Timothy Emerick

September 17, 2021
To Whom It May Concern.

This is a reference letter for Dr. Timothy Emerick. Dr. Emerick served in our church as a teacher and counselor for a period of two years. As a psychologist he always stated that psychology can show us the problem but only Jesus can heal it.

In his time of service, he assisted the pastoral staff to resolve pressing issues with church members including but not limited to doctrine and individual and family counseling. He ministered with great insight and power demonstrating the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Dr. Emerick served with great love and enthusiasm and proved to be a vital part of our church family. He served with integrity for the body of Christ. He is bilingual in English and Spanish. He is fluent in both.

I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Timothy Emerick who is an able and responsible minister for the body of Christ.

Sincerely,
Senior Pastor Rafael Torres Jr.

Youth Ministry in the Barrio 1988

This is a picture of myself with three young men who were former drug addicts who accepted Christ and began to work in the Youth Center we established in Pacoima. Standing to my left is Mario, then to my right Ricardo, and kneeling is Carlos. They worked in the center helping other boys and girls find a new life in Christ leaving gangs’ and drugs that plagued their community

Greetings from Cancun, Mexico. Our names are Rodolfo and Isabell Ruz. We accepted the Lord with Dr. Emerick about a month ago and we also attend the Bible Institute. It’s been a tremendous blessing because he has ministered to our whole family and did the funeral service for my mother-in-law this last week.
